For my girls

My last plea, for those I love (you know who you are), I beseech you to read this and think of how your nieces, nephews, grandchildren etc, and how HISTORY will consider your actions and why, simply put, Kamala Harris is the only logical choice on November 5th.

We’ve already seen what happens with a Trump presidency, and it has already drastically set our human rights back decades.

We are HUMANS first and all deserve to live our lives with safety, dignity, and maintain the American freedom that so many have sacrificed and died to protect, and for my girls, I write this.

I believe basic human rights have no place in government or politics, because, well, they are basic human rights.

·       I don’t believe this makes me liberal vs. conservative, I’m just a Mom trying to be a decent human being by caring for others and raising my girls to do so as well.

·       To me, these rights include: a woman’s right to choose, marriage equality, gender equality, separation of church and state, religious freedom, voting rights and democracy! And NOTHING is more important to me than protecting those for my girls. Not inflation, not the economy, not immigration, not foreign policy NOTHING, NADA, Rien, Nichts is more important to me.

The fact that in 2024, we must keep fighting so hard to uphold so many of these rights outrages and astounds me every day. I remember telling my father back in 2015, the GOP’s main goal of getting Trump into office (and why so many of the GOP has walked back their criticisms of him cough JD Vance cough) was to overturn Roe v. Wade. His response “that will never happen”, well it did happen, and now young women are DYING after over 40 years of protection.

So I while I personally can’t wrap my head around how anyone can disregard all of the CRIMINAL, terrible, and reprehensible things Trump has done, I know from my research and very understandably, most Americans focus on how they think a presidential candidate will directly affect their lives and as I most commonly hear,  “I can’t stand him, but, I’m voting for him because these reasons (the issues most important to American voters listed below)”.

But my issue with this is, those reasons do not make logical sense when you spend the time to research the facts (and I have spent most of my professional career researching the habits of the American people, so baby buckle up it’s time for “Krista Bullet Points”

The Economy

Understand. Inflation sucks, and prices and interest rates are high. But inflation is slowing, and interest rates are beginning to drop. So, while the current situation is extremely challenging for all, bottom line, experts predict a vote for Trump will not make inflation or interest rates better, the opposite in fact.

1.     The president often has a less direct impact on the U.S. economy than public perception may suggest, considering the difficulty in implementing policies, the global nature of the economy and the fragile nature of the stock market, which relies on earnings growth for multinational corporations. Forbes.com So overall, this is a big head scratcher for me as basis to base your vote for President on, but, let’s dig deeper..

2.     How is the Current Economy Doing under Biden/Democrats?

a.     The current economy is defined by strong economic growth, a softening labor market and slowing inflation. Interest rates are dropping, unemployment is at an all-time low and inflation is going down under a Democratic president. Nerd Wallet

b.     With just days before Election Day, the U.S. just got its latest economic report card — and it's good. The U.S. economy grew at a solid annual rate of 2.8% in July, August and September, with consumer spending leading the way, according to the Commerce Department on Wednesday. NPR

c.     Right now America’s economic-growth rate is the envy of the world. From the end of 2019 to the end of 2023, U.S. GDP grew by 8.2 percent—nearly twice as fast as Canada’s, three times as fast as the European Union’s, and more than eight times as fast as the United Kingdom’s. The Atlantic

3.     Harris’ Economic Plan is by far “the lesser of two evils” via multiple sources:

a.     Nonpartisan nonprofit Committee for a responsible federal budget notes Trump's estimated economic plan would sink the nation $7.5 trillion further into to debt over the next decade, while Harris' estimated proposals would cost the government half that — around $3.5 trillion.

b.     Penn Wharton University of Pennsylvania again, predicts both will increase the deficit, but, Harris by $2.3 trillion, to Trump’s $5.8 trillion

4.      Most dangerously, Trump’s economic plan is predicted to launch us into a recession and worsen inflation by again, multiple sources!! So WHY?!!???

a.     Associated Press

b.     Penn Wharton University of Pennsylvania

Immigration

1.     Understand. This is a problem we need to solve, but, when global organizations like Human Rights Watch say that Trump’s Title 42 (enacted when he was in office) was "illegal and violates the human rights of those subjected to it. His way is not the way. It is not who we are as a country, and any policy that puts America on a “human rights watch” is reprehensible and unacceptable and I don't need to list anything additional. This is beyond ENOUGH.

Foreign Policy

1.     Most Americans don’t realize how much other countries look to us to guide the world and how much our policies effect other countries. So, when people say “the world is laughing or disgusted with us, it’s true and I experienced it firsthand. I went to Ireland in November of 2016, right after Trump was elected. The second anyone heard our accents; we were bombarded with comments like “how could you let this happen?” and “has America lost their minds?” we were not initiating these political conversations, the Irish were outraged, and afraid (many businesses are much more reliant on our economy than you’d imagine) and pummeled me and my girlfriends with questions throughout our trip, and articles on doom and gloom were plastered all over the front pages of all their newspapers. At one point, I thought about trying my hand at a different accent…

2.     According to the Teaching, Research & International Policy research lab, they see a large gap between Harris and Trump in their abilities to manage foreign policy, command U.S. forces, and implement their agendas on the global stage. Simply put, the experts say, Trump doesn’t make the gradeForeignPolicy.com
